Our Vietnam tour, Saigon, combines many of the country’s essential sites and some of its hidden places with a wide variety of destinations and landscapes. Beginning in bustling, vibrant Saigon and finishing in Vietnam’s elegant capital Hanoi our tour includes World Heritage Hue, charming Hoi An, the dramatic scenery of Halong Bay, Ninh Binh Province with its UNESCO World Heritage, Trang An landscapes and the picturesque Mekong Delta.

Discover the country’s past and present: ruined temples of the Cham Empire, glorious pagodas and royal tombs of the Nguyen Dynasty, the more recent, tragic sites of the Vietnam War and the friendly people, exotic cuisine, fantastic landscapes and exciting cities of Hanoi and Saigon.

DAY 1

Arrival Saigon

Upon arrival, meet at airport and transfer to your hotel.


DAY 2

Saigon City Tour

Day tour of some of the city’s sites including the bustling Ben Thanh Market, the War Museum, Jade Emperor Pagoda and Saigon’s own Notre Dame Cathedral.

DAY 3

Saigon - Mekong Delta

Drive south to a riverside town of the Mekong delta for a boat cruise through the maze of waterways. Discover the region, picturesque scenery, and the local cottage industries and handicraft manufacturing of the still very traditional villages. After the boat trip from Cai Be to Vinh Long we continue by car to Can Tho, the capital of the Mekong.

DAY 4

Can Tho Boat Trip

Get up early in the morning. Freshen up for the early boat trip to the spectacular Cai Rang floating market. Depending on water level we will make boat trip to small canals through thousands of water hyacinths covering the surface. Visit fruits garden.

Then your guide will take you bicycle 2,5 hours around Mekong Delta village.

Back to the hotel.

DAY 5

Can Tho - Danang - Hoi An

Transfer to Can Tho airport for your flight to Da Nang.

In the afternoon: Drive to visit the Cham ruins in My Son, 69 km south-west of Danang. My Son is a World Heritage site recognized by Unesco in 1999.
Transfer to Hoi An.

DAY 6

Hoi An Sightseeing

AM: Bicycle around Hoi An city to visit villages and see how people grow vegetable as well as their daily life.

PM: Walking tour in the pedestrian part of the town of Hoi An. The Japanese covered bridge was the link between the Japanese and the Chinese communities and is now the main attraction in Hoi An. A visit to the old merchant’s house Phung Hung is also on the programme. It was built 200 years ago and is still inhabited today by the eighth generation of the merchant family. The Chinese have always played an important role in Hoi An. The many Chinese community houses bear witness to this. You visit one of the many community houses.

DAY 7

Hoi An - Danang - Hue

Free in the morning.
Proceed to Hue by car on a trip that is a highlight of central Vietnam. The three-hour drive hugs the ocean coastline, winds through emerald-green paddy fields and climbs over the dramatic Hai Van Mountain pass.

DAY 8

Hue - Ninh Binh

Drive to the Imperial Citadel and Thien Mu Pagoda, We drive to the mausoleums of Minh Mang (or Tu Duc) and Khai Dinh. In the meantime you will also learn how typical incense sticks and Vietnamese hats are made. Transfer to Hue railway station for night train to Ninh Binh.

Ninh Binh

Pick up at Ninh Binh station at 09h30 and transfer to hotel. Free.

DAY 10

Ninh Binh - Hanoi

AM: Drive  to Trang An – Ninh Binh, situated in an area full of vast ricefields, limestone rock formations and caves. Upon arrival you make a trip on small rowing boats through the spectacular area, followed by lunch in a local restaurant.
PM: Bicycle around rice fields in Tam Coc village. Bus to your Hanoi hotel.

DAY 11

Hanoi City Tour

Morning program: Your guide will lead you on a city tour by bicycle to visit Uncle Ho. Learn about his great life at the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum (closed on Mondays & Fridays) and Presidential Gardens, Temple of Literature. All visitors to the mausoleum are required to wear clothes covering your knees and shoulders. This applies to both men and women.

PM: Visit Ethnology museum, Tran Quoc pagoda and cycle tour around 36 old quarter streets.

DAY 12

Hanoi - Halong

AM: Join tour to Halong Bay with Bai Tho company.
Arrival in Halong Port where we’ll board the Bai Tho Junk for a journey through the dramatic limestone
scenery of the World Heritage Halong Bay. Explore the islands, visit the grottoes and swim on the beaches, before dinner on board and overnight on the junk. (Traditional wooden style, yet now equipped for visitors with air-con and en-suite cabins).

DAY 13

Halong - Hanoi

AM: Early rise for dawn over Halong Bay before continuing the visit with stops at Man’s Head and Tortoise Islands, plus a tour of one of the picturesque lagoons by local rowing boat. Return to Halong Port via Bai Tu Long Bay.

PM: Drive to Ha Noi.

Hanoi  - Departure

Free shopping.
Transfer to Hanoi airport and fly out.
