Laos is full of amazing cultural and natural wonders. This small landlocked county has a surprising amount of biodiversity, and a rich history stretching from prehistoric cultures to the 1975 revolution and beyond.

With our Laos Highlights Tour you will visit the charming and fascinating capital Vientiane, you will enjoy Vang Vieng's stunning natural scenery, and you will go to Phonsavan’s most famous attraction, the Plain of Jars. Your tour ends at the magical town Luang Prabang, which has been designated as UNESCO Heritage Site for its unique fusion of European and Lao cultural traditions and architecture.

DAY 1

Vientiane 

On arrival in the Laos capital of Vientiane, you will be transferred to your hotel.  After a short rest, you visit the major sights of the capital: the Wat Sisaket, the oldest temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. You will see Lao’s national icon, the precious and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa an you will have the opportunity to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph. The Mekong river side is the perfect place to end the day and admire the sunset. Overnight in Vientiane.

DAY 2

Vientiane – Nam Ngum Lake – Vang Vieng 

After breakfast, you go to Nam Ngum, a huge reservoir created by damming the Nam Ngum River. You stop at Ban Keun, which is famous for its salt extraction plant and a village that distills the local Lao whiskey. On arrival at Nam Ngum Lake, you embark on a long tail boat visiting fishing villages in the various islets. You take a short walk to explore the lifestyle of the local fishermen. Afterwards you continue to Vang Vieng. Overnight in Vang Vieng

DAY 3

Vang Vieng – Phonesavan 

After breakfast, you visit the Chang Cave and you go for a short fishing boat ride on Nam Xong river through the town. Afterwards you drive along the hilly, windy route to Phonesavan (the Plain of Jars site 3, Unesco). Arrival in Phonesavan.

DAY 4

Explore the Plain of Jars site 3 – Luang Prabang 

After breakfast, you explore the Plain of Jars site 3, and visit the Ancient town Muang Khoun. In the late afternoon you return to Luang Prabang.

DAY 5

Luang Prabang

After breakfast, you visit Wat Mai. Then visit Wat Xieng Thong which further emphasizes the uniqueness of Luang Prabang. You also see the impressive "Tree of life" mosaic here. You visit the National museum (formal Royal palace) and continue to Kuangsi waterfall. After lunch you can have a swim at the natural swimming pools. Afterwards you return back to the town to climb the Mount Phousi hill and watch the sunset.  Visit the night market and transfer to the hotel.

DAY 6

Mekong River cruise 

In the early morning at 5:30am you visit the Morning Market. After breakfast transfer to the boat pier. The boat cruise takes you up the Mekong and you will see the rural riverside life. You will visit the Pak Ou Caves filled with hundreds of Buddha images, which were deposited here over centuries. After exploring the cave, you enjoy a Lao style lunch at a local restaurant. You then continue to the village of Ban Xang Hai. For centuries this village has been making jars used as fermenting containers for Lao wine. Nowadays, it specializes in producing a wide range of lau lao (Lao whisky) and Red lau hai (Lao wine). 
Return to Luang Prabang in the afternoon.

Luang Prabang - Departure 

Breakfast in your hotel. Transfer to  the airport.
