Our Vietnam tour, Hanoi to Saigon, combines many of the country’s essential sites and some of its hidden places with a wide variety of destinations and landscapes. Beginning in Vietnam’s elegant capital Hanoi and finishing in bustling, vibrant Saigon our tour includes World Heritage Hue, charming Hoi An, Sapa, the dramatic scenery of Halong Bay, Ninh Binh Province with its UNESCO World Heritage, Trang An landscapes and the picturesque Mekong Delta.

Continue your trip via the Mekong to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap with a visit of Angkor Wat.

DAY 1

Arrival Hanoi

Upon arrival, meet at airport and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 2

Hanoi City Tour - Night Train to Lao Cai

Morning program: Your guide will lead you on a city tour by bicycle  to visit Uncle Ho. Learn about his great life at the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum (closed on Mondays & Fridays) and Presidential Gardens, Temple of Literature. All visitors to the mausoleum are required to wear clothes covering your knees and shoulders. This applies to both men and women.

PM : Visit the Ethnology museum , Tran Quoc pagoda and Cyclo tour around 36 old quarter streets .

20h30 Transfer to Tran Quy Cap station for night train to Lao Cai. 
22h00 train leaves Hanoi railway station.

DAY 3

Sapa trekking

After breakfast in Lao Cai station you will be transfered to Sapa . We will start full day trekking 11 km down to valley in Lao Chai - Ta Van minorities villages. Sleep in homestay. You can ask the local guide to make the trekking less long and hard and do part of it by car or motorbike. A lot will depend on the weather.

DAY 4

Sapa trekking - Hanoi

After breakfast at your homestay, a new journey begins from 9 AM, follow the buffalo trail and through lush bamboo forest and small water fall to get to Giang Ta Chai Village, providing the opportunity to see nature views.
Encounter local village and witness their customs and traditions of Red Dzao People. Have lunch at Su Pan then continue with a peaceful downhill track from Su Pa Village, around winding mountain paths and through lush fields of rice paddies.

15h00 Limousine bus ticket from Sapa to Hanoi. Driver will drop you in your hotel  (distance 290km – 5 hours to 6 hours ). Check in hotel about 20h00.

DAY 5

Hanoi - Halong Bay

AM : Departure for Halong Port where we’ll board the Bai Tho Junk for a journey through the dramatic limestone scenery of the World Heritage Halong Bay. Explore the islands, visit the grottoes and swim on the beaches, before dinner on board and overnight on the junk. (Traditional wooden style, yet now equipped for visitors with air con and en-suite cabins).

DAY 6

Halong Bay - Hanoi

AM : Early rise for dawn over Halong Bay before continuing the visit with stops at Man’s Head and Tortoise Islands, plus a tour of one of the picturesque lagoons by local rowing boat. Return to Halong Port via Bai Tu Long Bay

PM  : Drive to Ha Noi.

DAY 7

Hanoi - Ninh Binh - Night Train

Morning program: visit of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum with the garden and stilt house.

Drive to Trang An, situated in an area full of vast ricefields, limestone rock formations and caves. Upon arrival you make a trip on small rowing boats through the spectacular area, followed by lunch in a local restaurant.

In the afternoon you go on a bicycle trip through the ricefields where you will see the locals at work.

After free dinner, transfer to Ninh Binh railway station for overnight train to Dong Hoi. (air-con cabin/ 4 persons per cabin).


DAY 8

Arrival Dong Hoi - Phong Nha

Arrival in Dong Hoi railway station at 6h00 . Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. This is the biggest National Park in Vietnam. Visitors will enter to the core zone to visit the vast primary forest, Dong Tien slope, Tau slope.

DAY 9

Paradise Cave & Dark Cave

Paradise cave is the longest dried cave in South East Asia with the length of 31,4km. Visitors walk up the mountain with 524 steps. Visitors will enjoy cool weather and the magnificent stalactite and stalagmite when visiting 1,2km inside cave. Dark cave is opened for exploring tour where the visitors can walk and swim inside the cave. It is fantastic for someone who joins in tour to see the limestone formation and a lot of fossils of this cave.
Transfer to Dong Hoi station. Take soft seat train SE5 from Dong Hoi to Hue. Drive 1 km to hotel.

DAY 10

Hue City Tour

8h00 In the morning you visit the seven-storey Thien Mu Pagoda, the Imperial Citadel, and Dong Ba market.
We drive to the mausoleums of  Minh Mang (or Tu Duc) and Khai Dinh. In the meantime you will also learn how typical incense sticks and Vietnamese hats are made.

DAY 11

Hue - Hoi An

8h30 Proceed to Danang by car on a trip that is a highlight of central Vietnam. The three-hour drive hugs the ocean coastline, winds through emerald-green paddy fields and climbs over the dramatic Hai Van Mountain pass. Drive to Hoi An and free for the rest of the day.


DAY 12

Hoi An

AM: 8h00 walking tour: visit the pedestrian part of the town of Hoi An on foot. The Japanese covered bridge was the link between the Japanese and the Chinese communities and is now the main attraction in Hoi An. A visit to the old merchant’s house Phung Hung is also on the programme: it was built 200 years ago and is still inhabited today by the eighth generation of the merchant family. The Chinese have always played an important role in Hoi An: the many Chinese community houses bear witness to this. You visit one of the many community houses.

PM: Bicycle around Hoi an city to visit villages and see how people grow vegetable as well as their daily life.


DAY 13

Hoi An - Ho Chi Minh

AM:  Free

PM: Transfer to Danang airport and fly to HCMC. Drive to the extraordinary Cu Chi tunnels, just outside Ho Chi Minh City. During the war for independence, “Viet Cong” guerillas built the labyrinth of narrow tunnels virtually underneath U.S. bases, using them to hide during bombing raids and to stage surprise attacks. Depending on the season, visitors can see harvesting or planting of rice fields en route.

DAY 14

Ho Chi Minh City Tour  -  Can Tho

AM: 7h30 Visit  Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office. Walk to Ben Thanh market past the Opera and Continental hotel.

Drive south to a riverside town of the Mekong delta for a boat cruise through the maze of waterways. Discover the region, picturesque scenery, and the local cottage industries and handicraft manufacturing of the still very traditional villages .

DAY 15

Can Tho - Chau Doc

AM: An early visit to Cai Rang floating market is an option before your breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast, we head northwest to Chau Doc, situated near the Cambodian border, checking-in at the hotel on arrival.

PM:  we take a boat to visit fish farms where fish are bred in wooden cages suspended under floating houses on the river, then continue by boat to visit a village of stilt houses belonging to the Cham minority where colorful traditional textiles are woven on old wooden looms. We return to dry land in time to drive up Sam Mountain to watch the sunset over the Cambodian border.

DAY 16

Chau Doc - Phnom Penh

Take Hang Chau boat trip 4 hours from Chau Doc to
Phnom Penh. Our guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.
The rest of the afternoon is free at leisure.
The capital of Cambodia, Phnom Penh, lies near the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap Rivers. This riverside town still maintains considerable charm despite its recent turbulent history.

Phnom Penh - Siem Reap

Transfer to Pochentong airport for your flight to Siem Reap. Visit some temples on the small circuit.
